- Nick’s Review: Dungeon Command Rate: 3 out of 5.
From the Dungeons & Dragons website:
“Dungeon Command features themed miniature factions designed to play as unified war bands, in a game reducing the effect of luck-driven mechanics in favor of player-driven skill, creativity, and quick thinking.”
Dungeon command features (currently) two different box sets, Drow and traditional adventurers. You have a choice of two commanders from each box set, and from that you have different abilities. The game play features both cards and miniatures. The minis are the heart of the game, but the cards are the pulse. They make the game more strategic than the simplified minis combat. You summon more of your war band each turn. The game ends when you have no miniatures on the field.
Overall, I liked the game, but the rules are very simplistic. The strategy is superfi-cial, and some things are counter-intuitive. I like the game, and would play it again.
On a related note, the game includes cards to use the miniatures with the Adventure games such as Castle Ravenloft.
