Nick’s Review: Kaijudo

Kaijudo is the entry-level TCG(trading card game) from Wizards of the Coast, the makers of Magic the Gathering. The game is a re-tooling of Deck Masters, a game from the early 2000s that never took off.  In the game opponents try to destroy their opponents “shields” by attacking with summoned “creatures”.  I really like the tone of the game. With names like Frogzooka and Bat-Breath Scaradorable, the game doesn’t take itself too seriously. The gameplay is solid and any who has played Magic before, can easily understand it.

Kaijudo has a TV show on the Hub network and Wizards of the Coast is really trying to make this game successful. The new set, Rise of the Duel Masters, releases September 7th and introduces a 100 new cards into the game. The uncomplicated rules and quick game-play make this a must-try.

Return to Ravnica Is Going To Be Off The Plane!

Ravnica: the metropolis of the Multiverse. Though the Guildpact spell has been broken, the ten guilds live on in this city-covered plane. Five of them lie within. Choose your allegiance carefully, Planeswalker.

Return to Ravnica is set to be in stores in early October, but you can catch all the new cards (including shocklands!!!) at your local Game Preserve pre-release.  The events are run on August 29th and 30th, but individual times and days vary.  Contact your local store for details.
